Did you know that the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank can feed a family of 4 for 7 days with grant money raised by 2 hours of a volunteers time?? That’s a pretty amazing program and the Fredericksburg Jaycees would like to help volunteer OUR time so that others less fortunate then us can eat.
This month’s volunteer opportunity comes from the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank’s Food for Life program. The Food For Life program delivers boxed lunches to the elderly in our area. This Saturday, January 8th we will be headed to the Food Bank, to sort donations, organize lunch materials and pack lunches, from 9 – 12.
The Food Bank relies on individuals, such as YOU for their manpower and support. Please come out and support this worthy program on Saturday, January 8th from 9 -12.
Family and friends are welcome (Don’t forget 1 person can feed a family of FOUR for just TWO hours of their time), however the Food Bank does not allow children under the age of 10 to volunteer, due to liability issues.
Please email Jen Adkins to volunteer to make a difference in someone else’s life. We need to RSVP to the Food Bank so please email me ASAP with the time’s YOU are available to make a difference (2 hours of YOUR time not only supports our areas elderly, but your hours help others less fortunate eat for a week!).
The Community Development portfolio will be bringing you a monthly Volunteer Opportunity each month (duh!). This is your chance to get out in the community and make someone else’s life better because YOU volunteer 3 hours a month of YOUR time. We will be sending you emails at the end of each month letting you know how you can make a difference in the following month, so be sure to keep your eyes open.
