37th ANNUAL JAYCEES RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER RAFT RACE And HERITAGE DAY PARADE

 

With the passing of Memorial Day, summer is here; school is out, families attend their annual beach vacations, and the 37th annual River Raft Race will roll down the Rappahannock River. The Fredericksburg Jaycees are once again partnering with the local Fire Departments, Rescue Squads, and Police departments to bring this captivating, fun event to the entire community.

Every Year The Fredericksburg Community Celebrates July 4th with a meriod of events, one being the Fredericksburg Jaycees River Raft Race. Every Year dedicated and enthusiastic community members gather at the Falmouth Water Front to display and race their inventive rafts. The races are on at 11:30, spectators can see the great display of racing river rafts on the Chatham Bridge. The Frederickburg Jaycees await the rafts at the finish line of the Fredericksburg City Docks. Rafts are judged by a panel of local Jaycees as well as Jaycees from around the state. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including “Most Patriotic,” “We Didn’t Think it Would Make it but…” “Huck Finn,” “Commercial Huck Finn,” and of course, “Fastest Down the River.”

COSTS for Day of Event Registration – For Registration after July 1st
You can Register on-line up until the day before the event and
You can Register the Day of the Event at the Falmouth Water Front
(Registration starts at 7:30 am, Race Starts at 11:30 am)

This annual event will be held in concert with other traditional Heritage Day events such as the Heritage Day Parade, 5-mile run and street fair.

The Heritage Day Parade
Don’t miss out on participating in this fantastic family-freindly parade.The morning of July 4th families and organizations decorate the parking lot of the VRE with their patriotic costumes and bikes. They walk down the streets of Fredericksburg to show their patriotism on this day. Children are welcome to ride their red, white and blue decorated bikes down the street with their . This year prizes will be given away to children of best patriotic décor or costume.
The parade is free for spectators and for participants. Those who want to participate in the parade should be at the fredericksburg VRE lot on Caroline st at 9:00 am. The parade will leave th VRE on Caroline st at 9:30 and Will cross onto Princess Anne st from George st and ending at the cross section of princess Anne st and Lafayette st.
