Scavenger Hunts
_____________________________________________________________________________
Every year new ideas come to light. Some are such a success they leave an imprint on our community. In 2011, Vice President of Individual Development Geoffrey Marsh and director Gabriel Fernandez decided to host the very first Fredericksburg Jaycees Historical Scavenger Hunt. Intented to bring the community together, the Scavenger hunt helped bring the Jaycees together as well. Those who Scavenged were reintroduced to Fredericksburg and it’s history.
The 5 person Scavenger groups met at The Greene Turtle where they received shirts to wear with their team, taking them home afterwards. The hunt led participants to various businesses where gifts were waiting for those who answered the clues correctly. At Sage Mantis Game Haven everyone received a coupon to redeem one hour of free gaming. Old town Segway Tours provided participants with a mini tutorial on Segway riding along with a short Segway test drive. Some made their way to Spotsylvania where they answered questions at The Latin Grille. Those who answered correctly received free appetizer vouchers. Others raced to Fantasy for a funny hat fashion show and photo shoot. Those who finished everything on their list and made it back in time received prizes.
The Scavenger Hunt has found a place on our calender again this year thanks to Geoffery Marsh, 2012 Vice President for community Service, and we hope it finds a home in our community. All future hunts will never resemble the ones before it. The updated Scavenger List allows the community to enjoy each and every scavenger hunt as if it were their first. The Fredericksburg Jaycees Foresee a long and bright future for our Scavenger Hunt Events.
